TRAINING
With most of fire fighing operations involving sustainted operations at only metres about fresh water sources such as
dams, lakes and rivers, the risk of a water landing is obviously higher than many other operations involving helicopters.
Kestrel recognised that many underwater escape training courses focus on an ocean environment, including life raft operations,
hyperthermia, rationing, and the use of signaling equipment.
With all these events being unlikley in any situation our crew might encounter,
we have designed a training program more suited to the fire suppression environment, focusing on immediant escape
from the helicopter under water using our 'HUET Cage' cockpit simulator and fire evasion and survival.
This course coupled with our 'Wire strike prevention' course which focuses on single wires in a limited visability
environment gives out crews the best training for the 'worst case senario'.
